About:
In March 2006, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department ("LASD") transformed the Century Regional Detention Facility ("CRDF") into an all-female jail facility.  Also interchangeably referred to as the Los Angeles Century Jail for Women or "Lynwood Jail", this facility currently houses all Los Angeles County female inmates.  This means that CRDF temporarily houses female arrestees until their release or arraignment as well as convicted females who have been ordered to serve a jail sentence.

In addition to housing female inmates, the Century Regional Detention Facility is also used as a booking center for male arrestees from the L.A. Sheriff's Century and Compton stations before they are transferred to the Los Angeles Twin Towers Jail or, when that's too crowded, to the Los Angeles County Men's Central Jail.

About
Pitchess Detention Center is an all-male county detention center and correctional facility named in honor of Peter J. Pitchess, located directly east of exit 173 off of Interstate 5 in the unincorporated community of Castaic in the County of Los Angeles in southern California.

The 2,620 acre site was previously known as the Wayside Honor Rancho or the Wayside Jail (by which it is still sometimes known) and was nicknamed the Wayside Drunk Farm in the 1940s because of the large proportion of inmates serving time for alcohol-related offenses— when first built for prison use in 1938 it was a minimum-security facility where inmates worked on a farm setting. Since then the facility has grown to be the largest in the County.

Pitchess accommodates inmates from the Van Nuys, San Fernando, Burbank, Pasadena, Newhall, Antelope Valley, Malibu, and downtown Los Angeles areas.

About
The 1.5 million square foot (140,000 m²) complex, known as, Twin Towers Correction Facility, was opened in 1997, though it remained empty for a period prior to opening because of lack of operating funds. During that time, the deputy sheriffs had to prevent people from breaking in. It was authorized and constructed after the Northridge earthquake damaged the historic Hall of Justice at 210 West Temple Street in Los Angeles. Security at the facility centers on a panoptic design that allows deputies and officers in a central control room to look through secure optical material to see into all areas of the facility.

Came into the media spotlight for weeks during Paris Hilton's incarceration.
